A Good Morning star stayed

A Good Morning star was left “humiliated by his job” on Friday after suffering a mortifying technical error live on air.

Andi Peters was left red-faced when he was forced to admit that he had unplugged his microphone to go to the bathroom, resulting in him being unprepared when it came time for his link to his competition segment.

As the camera panned to him to present the final award, the 54-year-old presenter looked alarmed as he pulled out his microphone and realised it was unplugged.

The camera then panned to presenters Rob Rinder and Kate Garraway laughing, while Andi could be heard shouting in the background: “Run the VT!”

Following the clip, Andi filmed again, where she pretended to be on a call to her boss’s bosses while joking, ‘Seriously, don’t get rid of me!

“I went to the bathroom, that’s why I unplugged it! It’s okay,” before abruptly hanging up.

The long-serving presenter later apologised for unplugging his microphone, but Kate Garraway couldn’t resist poking fun at him for the mistake.

The announcer mocked Andi by saying her actions were “unprofessional” before jokingly insisting that she would never do that.

This comes after Andi was surprised live on air last month when the show gifted him a special cake to celebrate his birthday.

But the TV presenter then shocked his fellow stars when he revealed he would be turning 54, despite his youthful appearance.

Andi appeared at the ITV studios to present his usual competition segment so viewers at home could win some money.

However, host Ranvir Singh stopped him and said: ‘Normally, Andi, you’d tell us a bit more about the competition, but we’ve been a bit quiet today because it’s a very special day… It’s your birthday!’

Birthday music started playing and Ranvir joined co-host Ed Balls for a dance, before telling Andi: “We have a special surprise for you. Do you want to say how old you are?”

The TV star replied: “I’m 54,” before repeating herself as Ranvir gasped in shock and said: “Yes, but look at his face? 54!”

Andi reiterated her age once more, before smirking at her youthful face and jokingly saying, “I know, I know.”

Ranvir then revealed his surprise, saying, ‘We’ve made a cake of you doing what you do best – broadcasting from the beach!’

Meteorologist Alex Beresford appeared carrying a huge, multi-tiered cake, covered in sea-blue icing and with crumbs on the sides to resemble sand.

While on top of the cake was a palm tree with a small fondant figure of Andi reading a GMB book while lying on a sun lounger.

As Alex carried it over to Andi, he joked, “I tell you what, it weighs as much as Andi’s biceps!”

A delighted Andi said: “This is an amazing cake!” and Alex added: “It smells amazing.”

Andi offered, ‘You’re very welcome to come over for a drink, do you eat carbs?’ to which Alex referenced Andi’s ripped physique and replied, ‘You obviously don’t eat carbs!’
