Donald Trump and Joe Biden exchanged barbs on social media after the current president’s embarrassing mistake, confusing the name of his predecessor and vice president, Kamala Harris.

At the start of a question-and-answer session with reporters to end the NATO conference, Biden was asked if Harris could beat Donald Trump if she were at the top of the ticket, and he gave an excruciatingly harsh response.

“Look, I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump as vice president if I didn’t think she was unqualified to be vice president,” he said, setting off a flood of Republican memes, with mashups of Harris and Trump quickly appearing online.

Trump took to his Truth Social page and immediately afterward ranted against the gaffe: “Crooked Joe begins his ‘Big Boy’ press conference by saying, ‘I would not have picked Vice President Trump to be Vice President, even though I believe she was not qualified to be President.’ Good job, Joe!”

However, Biden’s X account had a response for Trump that tried to hit back just as hard.

“By the way, yes, I know the difference,” he wrote. “One is a prosecutor and the other is a criminal.”

Ironically, sentencing for all 34 of Trump’s felony convictions was initially scheduled to take place today, but was delayed after he apparently gained immunity from prosecution following a Supreme Court ruling.

It was a tough day for the president, who hours earlier had also confused the presidents of Ukraine and Russia.

“Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” he said before realizing that what he wanted to introduce was President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is currently at war with Putin.

There was a gasp in the room. Some people shouted the correct name as the leader of the free world tried to rally. “No, we are going to defeat Putin,” he said, as if to suggest he simply had Putin in his head rather than suffering a moment of superiority.

Biden made it clear at the subsequent press conference that despite continued gaffes, speculation and ridicule about his health, he had no intention of dropping out of the race.

But this leaves Democrats in a quandary. Major donors, supporters and key lawmakers have sounded the alarm about whether the veteran is prepared to take on Trump in November.

In the final question of the evening, NBC News’ Peter Alexander noted that he had previously confused Harris, his own vice president, with Trump.

Trump took to his Truth Social page and immediately criticized the error.

“Right now Donald Trump is using that to make fun of your age and your memory,” he said. “How do you combat that criticism?”

-Listen to the other boy…- he said with a smile.

Biden wrote in a letter to Capitol Hill Democrats on Tuesday: “I want you to know that, despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the finish, and to beating Donald Trump.”

Two weeks after Biden’s dismal debate performance against former President Trump, questions are emerging on Capitol Hill about whether his leadership will help or hurt Democrats in lower congressional districts.

On Thursday, Peter Welch of Vermont became the first senator to call on Biden to step down, joining more than a dozen other House members.

One of them, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, from Alaska, He became the first to suggest to the president Joe Biden He should resign from his post in a surprising statement.

Reports indicate Democrats across Congress could rally against the president after his speech Thursday night in an effort not to undermine the country’s leader as he navigates sensitive foreign relations.
