Gold Coast ute driver charged over alleged hit-and-run in which left a pedestrian seriously injured

A 19-year-old man has been charged following an alleged hit-and-run on the Gold Coast on Sunday morning.

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized after he was allegedly hit by a silver Nissan double cab ute in Burleigh Heads.

Police and emergency services were called to Goodwin Terrace about 1.10am after a 28-year-old man, from Deception Bay, was knocked down before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Police alleged he was struck by the silver van which did not stop and continued driving.

Earlier on Sunday, police released an image of the vehicle, which was allegedly involved in the incident, as they sought public assistance.

Shortly after 5am on Sunday, police arrested a 19-year-old man in Coomera.

The man, from Pimpama on the Gold Coast, has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and failing to remain at the incident and render assistance.

He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on November 4.
