A palatial Queensland mansion that once housed superstars The Rolling Stones and Frank Sinatra has failed to find a buyer.

The extravagant Gold Coast pad dubbed ‘Bartinon’, which features seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, has sold for $17 million.

Located in luxurious Sorento, the grand trophy house was known for attracting a long list of A-list guests, including Whitney Houston.

Built in the 1980s, it was once the most expensive property ever built on the Gold Coast, reported courier mail On Wednesday.

The original owners, businessman Sir Justin Hickey and his wife Lady Barbara Hickey, gained a reputation for hosting lavish parties at the property.

According to the publication, there were only six bidders for the incredible spread, which last sold for $7.22 million in 2014.

Located on the Nerang River, just minutes from the CBD, the 6,500 square meter “Mediterranean-inspired” property has an entire wing dedicated to a “wellness centre”.

Other highlights include a game room, three bars and a master retreat.

There is also a swimming pool, a tennis court and a garage with capacity for eight cars.

It also has a boat ramp, shed and private pontoon.

Designed with luxurious finishes including Italian marble and granite, the home is built of sandstone in a “resort style.”

A spectacular double staircase with balcony welcomes guests at the entrance.

The mansion also features oversized living rooms, Arched Dutch Awnings black framed windows.

Other features include floor-to-ceiling French doors, spacious tropical grounds, and a covered entertaining “section” with built-in barbecue.

Another highlight is a formal living room with sunken lounge and wood-burning fireplace.

Meanwhile, there’s also a basement, an infrared sauna and a marble hot tub, while each of the bedrooms features a wrap-around balcony.

Property records reveal that since the house was built in the 1980s it has been under the hammer five times.

It was first sold for $4.25 million in 2001 and was purchased again in 2006 for $6.665 million. In 2009 it sold again for $8 million before losing value at its 2014 sale.
