Shock after a man was found dead inside a unit as forensic police swarmed the scene

Police investigators swept through an apartment building after a man was found dead inside a unit.
Gold Coast Police responded to reports of the death of a man on a premises on Barney Street in the suburb of Southport, Queensland, at 7:30am on Friday.
The 61-year-old was discovered on the fifth floor of the apartment building by the administration during a welfare check.
Police began investigations, with investigators knocking on the door throughout the apartment building and preparing to view CCTV footage.
Forensic team is also present at the crime scene.

Gold Coast Staff Sergeant Brett McGibbons said the forensic path would be “a huge key to determining the probable cause of death”.
Police were unable to determine whether the man’s death was suspicious.
Queensland Ambulance Services were also on site.
A landscaper who was working near the apartment building this morning remembers seeing several police cars and an ambulance gather in the street.

He said, “First a police car arrived, then another, then another.” Gold Coast Bulletin.
The ambulance came next, but they didn’t have a siren, so I don’t know what that means.
“And then forensic medicine — or what I think is forensic medicine — came along.”
A Queensland Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that police were still investigating and there was “no further information available at this stage”.
