Brexiteers aren’t the only ones reading the fine print this week.

As the DUP and backbench Tories look for reasons to brush off her husband’s Brexit plan, Rishi Sunak’s wife sat down for some more fun in No10 this morning.

Akshata Murty invited a group of London schoolchildren to Downing Street for a reading session in one of the state rooms.

There was plenty of room in the working building, as Rishi Sunak was away for the day in Berkshire with most of his Tory MPs, figuring out how to beat Labor in the next election.

Sunak is trying to revive the party as it languishes some 20 points behind Labor in the polls after a year of three prime ministers and a string of economic and sordid scandals.

The Tories have reserved the entire £400-a-night Fairmont Hotel for lectures, drinks and a dinner with the Prime Minister, where the 355 or so MPs can dine on Hereford beef, Atlantic cod and broiled Scottish salmon.

Obviously, Liz Truss, who was briefly in issue #10 last year, will not be attending. And there is currently no sign of Boris Johnson either.

In a speech over lunch, the former prime minister yanked away from his successor’s deal, saying he would find it “very difficult” to vote for it as Northern Ireland still has to abide by EU law. presence.
