A Gogglebox Australia star has been rushed to hospital after suffering a spinal injury during a hellish holiday.
Isabelle Silbery, who recently left the reality series, was enjoying time on remote Turtle Island in Fiji when disaster struck.
The 38-year-old’s tropical vacation was cut short when she fractured her spine during a horseback riding accident.
She was flown by helicopter to the mainland (a 30-minute flight) with her husband Alex Richards for emergency treatment.
“It turns out that being on a remote island is very scary when you have a horse riding accident, you feel immense pain and you don’t know the severity of things,” Silbery said on Instagram after the incident.
“A medevac helicopter was only available during daylight hours, so local Fijians carried me on a stretcher 2km up a hill in the dark, to a boat and to my cabin,” he continued.

“They were all barefoot in the scorching heat, holding my hand and reassuring me that it would be okay.
‘They had a doctor on call and filled me with painkillers to get me through the night, even sitting on the beach in front of the cabin to make sure I didn’t need anything.
‘These people were real angels. Not to mention my husband, who helped me urinate in a glass… the kind of commitment we don’t have in our vows.’
He continued to emphasize the seriousness of the situation, explaining: “I was flown by helicopter to the mainland for scans to confirm that I had fractured my spine.
“An inch in any direction and my life could have been very different today.”
Isabelle has since returned to Melbourne where she is resting and recovering after the accident last week.
“I’m home safe and sound with a very large bill, so a PSA to check your travel insurance, since ours conveniently didn’t cover most of the activities I would do on vacation, including kayaking, snorkeling, riding a bike and, of course…riding a horse.” she wrote.
It comes after news that Foxtel has pulled the plug on popular series Gogglebox Australia after 19 epic seasons.

She was flown by helicopter to the mainland (a 30-minute flight) with her husband Alex Richards for emergency treatment.
The long-running reality series, in which ordinary Australians comment on the week on television, was adapted from a UK format and has been adored by fans since its launch in 2015.
The multi-Logie award-winning show was a co-production between Foxtel’s Lifestyle Channel and Network Ten, and aired first on Foxtel and free-to-air the following day.
But sources have exclusively revealed to Daily Mail Australia that Foxtel dropped the popular show and Network Ten kept it, albeit in a rebooted format.
“It’s been an unusual relationship that has been quite tumultuous at times,” the source said of co-producing the show.
“Over the years, Gogglebox has had two networks that really tried to co-opt its success and both networks, at different times, tried to buy the show from each other.”
The source added that Channel Ten has decided to keep the series, but it will look markedly different to the one Gogglebox Australia fans are used to.
“There’s good news and bad news for fans of the show,” the source said.
“Network Ten swooped in and saved us, so the series will return in 2025, but the bad news is that the show will be rebooted and have a massive cast change.”

“Turns out being on a remote island is really scary when you have a horse riding accident, you’re in immense pain and you don’t know how serious things are,” Silbery said on Instagram.
The source added that the program would be “reduced” from 2025 and that Channel 10 would not have to bear the entire burden of production costs.
“I imagine Gogglebox will reboot with a coat of paint,” the source said.
‘The fact of the matter is that Foxtel could no longer afford it and Network Ten could no longer afford it at the show’s current costs.
“Cuts had to be made across the show and more families have been informed that they will not be included in the next installment of the show on Network Ten.”
Fan favorite Isabelle Silbery confirmed the news on Instagram in November, revealing that she, her mother Kerry, and Isabelle’s eleven-month-old daughter Ruby would not be returning to the show in 2025.
Isabelle and Kerry joined the show, with Kerry’s mother Emily, in 2016, and Emily quit in 2023 after being diagnosed with dementia.
Isabelle shared a photo showing her, Kerry and Emily taking their usual spot on the couch.
“It is with a heavy heart to announce that Mum, Ruby and I will not be returning to Gogglebox in 2025,” Isabelle wrote.

“A medevac helicopter was only available during daylight hours, so local Fijians carried me on a stretcher 2km up a hill in the dark, to a boat and to my cabin,” he continued.

‘Foxtel has decided not to renew our beloved show and although the show will continue on Channel 10, the three of us have not been included in its new form.’
Isabelle went on to say that she was grateful for the opportunity to showcase women’s voices on Australian television.
“Nine years ago, I saw an opportunity to showcase the voices of real women from multiple generations,” she said.
‘Baby Ruby, replacing Emmie in the later seasons, made it seem like it was coming full circle.
‘It has been a real pleasure sharing our halls with you all and I can’t thank you enough for the love and support.
“It may be the end of an era, but it is also an opportunity for exciting new beginnings.”
The post was met with a flood of comments from friends, fans and followers, including veteran Lisa Wilkinson.
‘Oh no @isabellesilbery!! I’m so sorry to hear that,” Lisa wrote.

Former Gogglebox star Angie Kent also weighed in, saying the Silbery family’s contribution to the show has been immeasurable.

“I think they’ve really dropped the ball here. But what do I and thousands of other avid TV viewers know, huh?”

Meanwhile, a Network Ten spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Next year, there will be only one place to watch Australia’s favorite sofa critics.
“Grab the popcorn and get comfy on the couch, because in 2025 Gogglebox Australia will be streaming exclusively on 10 and 10 Play.”
The spokesperson also thanked the Silbery family for their contributions to the program for nearly a decade.
“The three generations of women in the Silbery family brought a wealth of life experience, personality, empathy, humor and opinions to the table every time they sat down to watch TV together,” the spokesperson said.
