God of War Ragnarok director is leaving Santa Monica Studio

Date:

Santa Monica studio art director Rafael Grasetti has announced his departure from the studio after 10 years spent within the walls of the studio.

Raphael joined Santa Monica Studio in November 2013 as a character designer. He then worked as an art designer on God of War, which was released in 2018, then directed God of War Ragnarok, and became art director at Santa Monica Studio in November 2022.

Rafael Grassetti said in a tweet via his official Twitter account, saying:

Today is my last day at Sony after more than a decade of being a part of this amazing journey, ups and downs, but above all deeply grateful for the countless opportunities I’ve been fortunate to have.

Sony has been my second home and I’m so grateful to be so deeply involved with the God of War series. The skills I learned and the deep bonds I formed with incredible people will stay with me forever.

Special thanks to Cory Barough, Eric Williams, Yumi Yang and Scott Roddy for believing in me and the entire Santa Monica family for their support. Sony has been instrumental in shaping my career, and I will cherish the memories and experiences forever.

I am very confident in the studio’s continued success, and I hope we can work together again in the future. I’ll be sharing more news about what’s next for me next week.
