Gloucester wing stallion Danny Cipriani drives off an outstanding campaign to be named Premiership Player of the Season to double the prizes
- Cipriani called the player of the Gallagher Premiership of the season on Wednesday
- The 31-year-old had already won the annual prize of Rugby Players Association
- The flying half is only the second player to win both prizes in the same season
Danny Cipriani continued an excellent debut year in Gloucester by being named Gallagher Premiership player of the season.
Cipriani only became the second person after former Wasps teammate Jimmy Gopperth to score the prize in the same year as being recognized as a player of the Rugby Players' Association of the year.
The 31-year-old flying half has entered Gloucester & # 39; s march in the playoffs and they are facing Saracens in the Allianz Park on Saturday in their first appearance in the semi-final since 2011.
Danny Cipriani was named Gallagher Premiership player of the season on Wednesday evening
& # 39; I'm so proud of him – it's always a big thing when a player joins a club and a bit of pressure is put on you & # 39 ;, said Gloucester & # 39; s head coach Johan Ackermann.
& # 39; I can only speak about Danny & # 39; s dedication to the team. It is set up in culture and it is open. We have a good relationship where we are open to each other and he has of course made a serious impact on the field.
& # 39; He probably has the best skill I have seen from an attacking half seen from an attacking point of view, he can kick well and he is extremely fast. He knows what he wants in an attack and his distribution is of the highest class. & # 39;

For all its astonishing form and insured game management in a season marred by an injury, a three-week ban on a high tackle and a fine incurred for a nightclub incident, Cipriani was unable to reclaim his English place.
By winning both prizes, Eddie Jones will be called up again to explain why Cipriani was frozen in favor of Owen Farrell and George Ford.
Cipriani was celebrated at a gala dinner in central London after being selected by members of the media. He was at the top of a shortlist in which Henry Batte and Santiago Cordero van Exeter also appeared, Sale scrum-half Faf de Klerk and Northampton half-back Cobus Reinach.
