The all-rounder became embroiled in drama last month after being hospitalized following a drunken day at a golf club with teammates and cricket legends.
The incident raised further questions about the World Cup winner’s relationship with alcohol.
Maxwell returned to the Australia team for the T20 series against the West Indies and after being dismissed for 10 runs in Friday’s match, he returned to form in sensational fashion in Adelaide.
The veteran scored 120 runs without losing his wicket as the Australians set a target of 242 runs for the visitors.
