Eintracht Frankfurt’s head coach Oliver Glasner is apparently also on the FC Chelsea shortlist and is thus competing with Julian Nagelsmann, who was recently fired from FC Bayern.
In addition to the English media, this is also reported by “Bild”. Accordingly, after the separation from team manager Graham Potter on Sunday evening, the Blues should only have three or four candidates for his successor on the shortlist – including Glasner and Nagelsmann, who had to resign from Bayern Munich during the international break.
Crunchy: Glasner is said to be an issue at Chelsea for the second time. According to “Bild”, the blues were already in contact with the 48-year-old in the summer of 2022 and felt whether he could imagine moving to London. At that time, however, the Premier League club received a rejection from Glasner.
This recently confirmed offers from the island, but he rejected them. “I just really enjoy my job – maybe that’s why I don’t think so much about what might come one day,” Glasner told the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung”.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Why doesn’t Oliver Glasner extend?
However, the Austrian is said to be reluctant to extend his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, which runs until 2024.
Many questions, for example about the future of some SGE top performers, are open from Glasner’s point of view. In addition, his relationship with sports director Markus Krösche should not be the best. It is also obvious that Glasner could earn significantly more at Chelsea than in Frankfurt.
According to “Bild”, Nagelsmann is not available for immediate entry at Stamford Bridge. It is said that the 35-year-old first wanted to work through the separation from FC Bayern, the first major setback in his impressive coaching career.
Tottenham Hotspur, also looking for a coach after Antonio Conte left, Nagelsmann is said to have already canceled.
