A glamorous real estate agent has divided Australians over a decision to include her personal photo on a sold sign instead of a photo of the property.

The agent made sure she was center stage with just her name and mobile phone number accompanying the large photo on the Sydney billboard.

The photo sparked debate after it was shared on Reddit this week, with one user asking: “Did I buy a house or a human being?”

“Narcissism is strong in this one,” wrote a second.

“I don’t know of any other industry that considers the person involved as the dominant characteristic in marketing,” commented a second.

‘If any real estate agent did their marketing along the lines of “we sell your house, not our names,” I would sign with them. I can’t believe no one is trying.

‘I work in an architecture office and we always joke that we should make a sign for the front of any or all of our construction sites that is just a shot of the four of us with something like “another designed!” below… because that’s how real estate agents do it and they earn more than us,” shared a fourth.

However, others came to defend the expert real estate agent.

‘Posters are not for buyers, they are for sellers. You see an agent’s face on hundreds of signs saying they sold at record prices, and if you decide to sell, you subconsciously say, “That agent sells a lot of places around here,” one wrote.

“They’re advertising to other sellers, not buyers,” a second agreed.

‘If you are going to sell a house, and all the houses around you have sold with a person’s face, they will assume that you will think that they are good as house sellers and that they would be a good fit for your house, instead to trust Someone with a history you don’t know.

A third said you are essentially “buying a human being” when looking to sell a property.

‘Real estate agents make profits by marketing to sellers and signing as many exclusive contracts as possible. The easy part is selling the house,” they said.

The agent declined to comment on whether it was a personal choice or company policy to include a headshot on the sale signs when contacted by Daily Mail Australia.
