A young English woman has revealed how her obscure job as a specialist medical sonographer pays almost $100 an hour but has a “huge shortage” of workers.

The woman, stopped in Sydney’s Bondi Beach for a social media street interview for a recruitment company, said she had “no problems” finding work in the area.

“I’m a cardiac sonographer and I scan hearts for a living,” he told the Jobs App. Forwardand added that his salary was “between $85 and $95 an hour.”

That rate would mean he would earn almost $200,000 a year.

“I did a three-year degree and two years later I specialized in ultrasound,” he added.

“I’ve been doing it for the last 10 years, I love it, I wouldn’t change jobs.”

The woman said the job was little known and most people didn’t even realize it was an option.

“Not many people know, because we only had eight people in my race,” he said. ‘Everyone thinks that in a hospital there are doctors and nurses.

“There is a huge shortage, I literally had no problems finding work here.”

She admitted that she had to deal with stress because her patients depended on her to do her job well.

“It’s a weird stress because you’re obviously dealing with people’s lives,” he said.

“So if you have a bad day at work, it can be a really bad day, because you could lose someone.”

“But you’re there to help and 9 times out of 10 you’re making people’s lives more positive.”

Sonographers use ultrasonic equipment to take anatomical images as requested by doctors.
