Gladiators fans were left outraged after tuning in to the final of the BBC show on Saturday night.
Marie-Louise Nicholson and Finlay Anderson were crowned Gladiator champions in the grand final, after 11 weeks of grueling challenges and fierce gladiators.
While Marie-Louise triumphed over Brontë Jones and Finlay beat fellow finalist Wesley Male, neither went home with a cash prize, much to the disappointment of fans.
The two champions each received a trophy for their efforts, however viewers were quick to comment on the “massive downgrade” of the original ’90s series.
In previous years, 12 cars and prizes totaling more than £45,000 were won on the ITV version of the show.

One joked: ‘Me sending that search party for the prize money after achieving a Gladiators victory? AS YOU SEE ANNNN. I would have even taken a 1994 jeep for that trophy!!’
Others wrote: ‘YOU GET NO PRIZE?! Significant reduction since the 90s; ‘Didn’t they win a prize bigger than a trophy in the 90s or was it my imagination?’; —So after all that there is no real prize?
‘All that for a trophy? Where is the car and the cash prize?’; ‘They do all that for a trophy and no cash prize? #Gladiators’; “Is there a cash prize for winning #Gladiators? It used to be £50,000 and a gas guzzling Jeep.”
‘Legendary #Gladiator Final (where’s the prize money?)’; ‘Give the winner a prize for #gladiators series 2 please.’ ; “I’m surprised they didn’t win an award for Gladiators, even if it was for charity.”
Another even accused the BBC of being stingy and raged: ‘#gladiators Show us the money! How cheap can @bbc be?! Winners do not receive any cash prizes; without car; No vacation to the Bahamas?!!? That’s shameful as this is one of the only successful new shows the BBC has. Do it right next time! P.S. Jet!’
It was confirmed earlier this week that Gladiators will return for a second series, with fans begging for a prize next time.
The program restarted has been a ratings success story, with its debut episode attracting a whopping 6.4 million viewers.

Speaking after her win, Marie-Louis told host Bradley Walsh: “Bronte was behind me the whole time, what a competitor to face, she was so close to the end.” I think we are both winners in my opinion.
Meanwhile, army officer Finlay went toe-to-toe with wrestler Wesley in the final event, but ran faster to the top of the walker and powered through the paper to become champion.
“This is definitely the most surreal moment since I was five years old playing The Eliminator in my grandmother’s living room to picking up the actual game, this is incredible,” the 34-year-old said.
