Gladiator icon Jet has revealed the electric moment his wife-to-be asked her out after they randomly met in a supermarket.
The ’90s TV star, whose real name is Diane Youdale, 53, recently revealed that she is engaged to girlfriend Zoe a year after they first met at a local Tesco.
And in a new interview, Diane described feeling “out of breath” and nearly “falling to the ground” after Zoe first approached her to ask her out.
Despite the shock of being asked out, things went so well for the couple that Diane ended up proposing to Zoe just four months into their relationship.
Detailing the beginning of their romance when Zoe first flirted with her at the supermarket, Diane told her Sun: ‘It was Tesco aisle six and I almost fell to the floor. It was like that feeling when your knees give out, I was breathless.

She recounted how she immediately said “yes” and that weekend the couple headed out on a date at a pub in a local town and “have not been apart” since.
Diane said her partner had “no idea” she was a gladiator at the time, describing her as “the most beautiful woman” he had ever seen before asking her out.
The two had seen each other on previous occasions at the store, as Diane regularly shopped there after a class.
The former gymnast-turned-psychotherapist also detailed the moment she popped the question to her love just four months after they met.
She said: ‘I knew in my heart that I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life, and I proposed to her. It wasn’t very romantic, I should have gone back to Tesco’s and made it an event. I was in the kitchen and I said, “I know we’re going to be together forever, so why don’t we make it official? Let’s get married.”
Diane had previously been in a relationship with former Gladiators Hunter co-star James Crossley.
She then married television executive George Mayhew, with whom she was seven years before their amicable separation.
During her stint as the glamorous Jet on the ’90s TV show, most of her fans assumed she was straight, but Diane recounted how her sexuality had changed “organically” and there was never a moment where she really “came out.”

She said: “Growing up in show business and moving to London at the age of 16, I’ve always lived with gay men and women, but never really thought about it personally.” And I wasn’t attracted to women in my twenties and thirties.
I wasn’t really aware of who I was attracted to. It has always been, and always will be, about the person.’
She added that while she has no issues with “age, culture or sexuality,” her attraction comes down to the person and her “beautiful soul,” which just “happens to be a woman.”
Diane added that dating a woman was “not a conscious thing to do,” but adds that she simply chooses to spend her time with non-judgmental people, adding that she can’t put people “in boxes” or “label” them.
The former TV star adds that as humans we are ‘organic beings’ and that she is not the same person she was at 50 as she was at 20.
Before going on to state that Zoe is the first woman he’s ever been with and that she’s the ‘happiest I’ve ever been’.
Her words come after she revealed that she is engaged to her girlfriend Zoe after they met at her local supermarket.
The television icon recalled being accosted by a ‘beautiful lady’ last year during an appearance on the Chillin’ with ice podcast.
Diane, who appeared on the ITV show between 1992 and 1996, beamed as she gushed about her fiancée before introducing her to the camera.

Past: Jet had previously been in a relationship with former Gladiators co-star Hunter, whose real name is James Crossley, but they broke up when Jet left the show after only dating for a year (pictured together during the show at left , while on the right, decades later)
The former athlete said: ‘A little over a year ago, I was approached at my local supermarket by a beautiful woman.
‘And over a year later, we’re getting married.’
With a big smile on his face he said: ‘We are what we are. It doesn’t matter. And I don’t give a fuck.
Diane admitted that she had previously “gone on lifelong relationships” after moving to the north of England for a partner only to end badly.
She told podcast host Lori Fetrick, who played Ice on American Gladiators: “I’m safe and I’m loved and there’s no threat to me anymore and that’s what the world means to me.”
Lori, 60, who came out in 2008, said: “Today, people are so accepting of everyone and it doesn’t matter who you are because it’s a matter of who you are as a person.”
Before adding: ‘It shouldn’t matter who your partner is.’
She now works as a psychotherapist and spends her time between the North East of England and Surrey.
