A man in India beheaded his wife and is said to have taken the severed head to the park to dance with her.

Gautam Guchhait, 40, from the village of Chistipur, near Kolkata, believed his wife Phulrani, 27, had been unfaithful to him and brutally murdered her in an act of revenge.

This comes three years after he made headlines around the world for jumping into a lion enclosure at a zoo and being rescued by staff.

The murderer who appears in the video soaked in his wife’s blood, used a knife to cut off her head.

He then carried the head, still dripping with blood, around the village, showing what he had done.

The video shows the man holding the head by the hair, raising it and warning locals to stay away.

Gautam Guchhait, 40, from the village of Chistipur, near Kolkata, believed his wife Phulrani, 27, had been unfaithful to him and brutally murdered her in an act of revenge.

Locals saw Guchhait carrying the head to the park, where he proceeded to dance with it.

When he finished, he took it to a bench, placed it next to him and sat down.

It was there where he was arrested.

Guchhait claimed that his wife had been having an affair behind his back and that was the reason for the beheading.

He was arrested and police officers searched his house where they found the rest of the body.

Soumyadwip Bhattacharya of the district police said: ‘The motive behind the murder will only become clear to us after a thorough investigation.

“Based on the evidence, we believe the murder may have been caused by a family dispute.”

This is not the first time Guchhait has made headlines.

In 2021 he decided to buy a ticket to a zoo, walked in the morning and then jumped into a lion’s cage.

At the time, he was said to be dressed like a saint and to be drunk.

After being mauled and suffering injuries to his shoulder and neck, he was rescued by zoo staff and taken to SSKM hospital in West Bengal city for urgent care.

The cage housed an endangered Asiatic lion, native to the Gir forest in Junagadh district of Gujarat.
