Girl, 9 and five adults arrested at NYC museum for refusing to show COVID vaccine cards

Five adult antivax activists were arrested and a nine-year-old girl was detained by police in New York City after a protest against the COVID vaccine mandate at the American Museum of Natural History.

The incident took place on Wednesday, when half a dozen people tried to enter the Manhattan museum without showing their vaccine passports, in violation of rules, which require every visitor five years and older to show proof of vaccination.

Jayla was filmed sobbing as she was marched down the stairs by two officers, while onlookers were filmed insulting NYPD officers over her arrest.

The protest was documented by a Twitter user who described himself as an “independent journalist” covering the anti-mandatory movement in New York City.

One of the videos showed the adults and child, identified as a nine-year-old girl named Jayla, being escorted out of the museum by uniformed NYPD officers.

A group of onlookers are heard hurling swear words at the officers as they lead the crying girl to a waiting police vehicle.

Twitter user Luke2Freedom, who documented the arrests, claimed that the five adults, including Jayla’s mother, had been arrested while the nine-year-old was held until her parents were released two hours later.

As of Friday morning, neither the NYPD nor the American Museum of Natural History confirmed the incident to DailyMail.com.

The six anti-mandated activists had made reservations to visit the museum on Wednesday, but were denied entry because they were unable to present their COVID vaccine passports.

An altercation with security and museum officials ensued and quickly escalated, even briefly into a pushing contest, after one of the women in the group, Joy, was denied access to a bathroom even after telling staff she was on her period.

A male protester, wearing a shirt with the image of Martin Luther King Jr., came in Joy’s defense and yelled at the guards, “I’m hiring you all! You’ll have to drag me out.”

The same man later lay down on the floor and issued an ultimatum to the museum staff: either let him and the group visit the museum, “or call the police.” That’s the line. There is no negotiation.’

NYPD officers were called to the scene and removed the protesters from the museum.

The video shows the men, women and 9-year-old Jayla being escorted by officers, who are harassed by bystanders and called ‘f***ing cowards’.

In the background, a bystander was heard telling the police officers that they were “traumatizing a small child.”

Another video shared on Instagram by former American Idol contestant Jimmy Levy showed a smiling 20th District Jayla accompanied by her mother after her release from custody.

The mother and daughter were greeted like heroes by their cheering supporters, who called the beaming 9-year-old “a little warrior.”

It is unclear at this time what charges the adult protesters faced in connection with the museum stunt.

Since the vaccine mandate went into effect in New York City last year, there has been a series of anti-vaxxer protests in which activists entered businesses without vaccination cards, refused to leave and, in some cases, were arrested.

Last week, four people were arrested after participating in an anti-vax sit-in at an Olive Garden in Times Square.

In late December, unmasked protesters burst into a Burger King in Brooklyn and were filmed yelling at staffers for refusing to serve them. When they refused to leave, the police were called to the scene and arrested five people.

Two weeks earlier, as many as 40 anti-mandated activists were charged with criminal offenses after causing a stir at a Cheesecake Factory restaurant in Queens.
