An 8-year-old Missouri girl died Thursday after being involved in a car crash that local authorities blamed on a large pothole.

The accident occurred Monday afternoon when the car Tiler Dildine was traveling in was traveling on East 23rd Street Trafficway in Kansas City. After hitting the pothole, the driver overcorrected, crossed the median and crashed into a Ford F-150 truck.

Dildine’s family said she was hospitalized immediately after the crash, in which two other people were injured, including her mother.

The young woman spent several days on life support, but tests showed no brain activity and she was pronounced dead Thursday, her aunt said. FOX4.

Dildine’s mother, Brittany, remains hospitalized with what could be a broken pelvis and other problems.

Both the state DOT and the city said they had not heard any complaints about the pothole before Monday’s accident.

“I called the police,” Cox said, “and the police even said, ‘Oh, did you call 311 to report this?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I did.’ Monday morning. Why are you telling me to call 311, though?

‘I understand the normal bumps. But this is a problem, and especially because someone was shipwrecked and people were hurt, you know what I mean? she added.

McGee described Dildine as a fun-loving girl who her brother prayed for.

‘She’s fun. She is crazy, she runs from one place to another laughing non-stop. She has a brother who is praying for her to be okay,” McGee said.

Dildine’s aunt says her niece will be an organ donor.
