Two-year-old Delilah Hunt died on July 11 in a freak accident at a family birthday party in Gordonville, Texas.

A young girl died in a freak accident after a compressor plate fell off a truck’s air conditioning and hit her in the head last Sunday night.

Two-year-old Delilah Hunt was riding a four-wheeler at a family birthday party in Gordonville, Texas on July 11, when relatives hit a nearby truck just steps away. Part of the Chevy’s pickup flew off the engine’s tank and hit her on the head.

Delilah was flown in critical condition to the Children’s Medical Center in nearby Dallas, where she was later taken off a ventilator. Three days later, on July 14, she was pronounced dead.

First responders told Fox News affiliate KXII that if she was even a foot away from where she was, she probably would have survived.

“It was just a random freak accident,” said Tim Bilderback, an ambulance service responding to Sunday’s tragic scene.

“If she had been somewhere other than where she was, the injury wouldn’t have been so bad. Nobody expects that.’

Martina Steinbrook, Delilah's aunt, is holding a piece of the truck's AC unit (pictured) that came loose after a family member turned the vehicle on.

Martina Steinbrook, Delilah’s aunt, said the family is still trying to cope with the tragedy a week later.

“(I’m) hurt, not mad at anyone because it was a freak accident,” Steinbrook said. “We’re all in shock.”

Relatives said her brain pressure reached a critical level due to the injuries she sustained from the falling compressor plate.

Meanwhile, relatives are now forced to arrange a funeral as they mourn the loss of the “spunkiest” girl there was, according to Delilah’s grandmother, Tina Heineken.

“She was the smartest little two-year-old there was and… [the] boldest; she just loved the world,” Heineken said. “She must come back to us.”

The family has a GoFundMe after Delilah’s death.
