A real estate agent was counseled after sending a shocking late-night text message labeling a client a “pig.”
Gold Coast couple Giorgina and Tom Stewart claimed they had received the insulting message from Coastal Property estate agent Christine Tucker.
The couple had hired the agency to sell their property and had reached an agreement when they received a message at 11:45 p.m. on September 13.
‘Pig. Pity. Absolutely disgusted by how you left that house,’ the text read.
‘The oven wasn’t even cleaned. Brian told me what kind of person you are. Your husband should be ashamed. He is class.
‘I’ll tell the neighbors. Pig. Being a woman I thought you would like to know that. My mom taught me how to clean, I’m not sure about yours.
Mrs Stewart said she was “stunned” by the wording, as the buyers of her property had agreed to a pre-deal inspection of the house just the day before.
“When you sell your house you don’t have to do bond cleaning as in the case of a rental house, but we leave the house clean and tidy,” he said.
Ms Stewart said that during the sales process which began in May, Ms Tucker had been “pleasant”.

“We had signed a contract with her and needed to sell the house as we had bought it elsewhere,” he said.
Stewart said that when he did not receive an apology from Tucker, he complained to Coastal Property CEO Dane Atherton on September 16.
He said Mr Atherton responded in writing and “conveyed my displeasure and apologised”, Gold Coast Newsletter reported.
Atherton told Stewart he had handled the matter internally.
“I am confident that our measures will ensure that Christine learns from the experience and does not behave in this way again,” he wrote.
‘Once again I ask that you accept my sincere apologies.’
Atherton said he repeatedly apologized to Ms Stewart.
Ms Stewart said she received a text message from real estate agent Christine Tucker at 11.45pm on September 13 that left her “shocked, offended and disappointed”.
“It was deemed unacceptable behavior and was dealt with internally, where we received counseling and warnings for the officer,” he said.
Atherton said he would not fire Tucker.
“She is a human being who did something wrong, and I don’t work like that,” he said.
“I felt like my conversation (with the complainant) was well received.”
