Disney and Pixar announced on Wednesday that beloved chef, Gino D’Acampo, has taken on a voiceover role in the British version of the comedy animation, Luca, set on the Italian Riviera.

In honor of Festa Della Repubblica (Italian National Day), the media conglomerate confirmed that the Italian TV personality, 44, will voice the priest Eugenio in the film, which will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on June 18.

Gino, who has appeared on a plethora of TV shows including This Morning, Celebrity Juice and Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip, said he felt “honoured” to star in the film.

He commented: ‘It’s a wonderful feeling to be part of the world of Disney and Pixar, especially in a film that is so close to my heart and that reminds me of my summers in Italy.

“I can’t wait for audiences to enjoy the film on Disney+, and I’m honored to bring my character Eugenio to life in the UK.”

Disney and Pixar’s director Luca Enrico Casarosa spoke about Gino’s contribution to the film.

He added: “It’s great to add local voices in cameo roles in our films – and Gino had a lot of fun doing it.

“I think the British public will love hearing a familiar voice in the role and we can’t wait to share Luca with them this month.”

Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the original Disney and Pixar feature is a coming-of-age story about a young boy who experiences an unforgettable summer of ice cream, pasta and endless scooter rides.

Luca (the voice of Jacob Tremblay) shares these adventures with his new best friend, Alberto, (voiced by Jack Dylan Grazer).

However, all the fun is threatened by a cherished secret: they are sea monsters from another world.

The animation production will be directed by Academy Award nominee Enrico Casarosa, known for his short film La Luna.

It is produced by Andrea Warren, who has worked on such films as Brave, A Bug’s Life and Cars 3.

Luca debuts exclusively on Disney+ on June 18, 2021.
