Giants’ outfield team mistake ages perfectly after sweeping Rockies originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Giants’ weekend series against the Colorado Rockies began with a hilarious mistake made by the grounds crew at Oracle Park, but could it actually have been a harbinger of what was to come?
At the top of the first entrance of San Francisco victory 10-5 Over in Colorado on Friday, play was stopped when Giants right fielder Mike Yastrzemski recovered a set of brooms left on the warning track by the grounds crew at Triple’s Alley.

While San Francisco trailed early Friday after allowing three runs in the top of the first inning, the Giants’ offense came to life and recorded an emphatic comeback victory. They followed up with a crushing 14-4 victory on Saturday thanks to a epic six-RBI performance by Luis Matos.
San Francisco completed his series sweep of Colorado with a 4-1 victory on Sunday, allowing the field team’s mistake from Friday to age tremendously.
In baseball lore, brooms are usually brought out at the end of a sweep, but the field staff at Oracle Park might have discovered something after bringing them out before the first game of the series concluded.
