Catriona Rowntree has revealed the surprising hotel hacks she loves after presenting travel documentary Getaway for 27 years.
The Nine star, 53, revealed several little-known tips for smart hotel planning during an interview with Escapewhich resurfaced on Saturday.
After almost three decades of traveling the world and staying in thousands of hotels, Catriona said there were 11 tricks she always followed.
When asked what hotel advice she followed, the mother of one said: “Never drink the water.” Turn off the air conditioning immediately to avoid catching a cold.
‘On a cruise, book a salon treatment at the time of boarding and get all the information from the esthetician.
‘Never take candles or hair straighteners or curling irons on a cruise. Travel in low season, never in high season.

She continued: ‘Use a local travel concierge if you want a more authentic experience. Never touch the mini bar, they are always too expensive.
‘Take a small sample of your favorite coffee/tea. Photograph where you parked your car at the airport, I guarantee you will come back pooped and forget where you left it.
“If you like boiled eggs, take an egg cup from home, it seems like no one ever provides them to you.” Always be nice to whoever registers you.
Catriona added that using “a genuine smile and kindness” with hotel check-in staff “is always rewarded.”
It comes after the TV presenter showed the depth of her love for Stan’s popular neo-western series Yellowstone by dressing up as one of the fan-favourite characters.
The longtime Getaway host shared a sweet photo on Instagram while her husband James Pettit dressed up as ranchers Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
The youthful-looking presenter was all smiles as she donned a striking pink dress, similar to those worn by the character played by English star Kelly Reilly.
Her long blonde locks were elegantly styled similar to how Kelly wears hers on the hit series, set on Montana’s largest ranch.
