WHAT MUST WE DO
A great way to start your day is to stretch out in the garden, says personal trainer Nadya Fairweather (u-shape.co.uk).
Lie on your back on a yoga mat and pull your knees against your chest. Open your arms wide, keep your knees bent, and gently lower your knees and feet to the right until they touch the floor. Turn your face to the left.
Continue to breathe in and out of the nose slowly, with your eyes closed. Stay here for at least 30 slow breaths. Now bring the knees back to the center and let them fall to the left – facing right.
Anyone with back injuries or disc problems should avoid this stretch.

WHAT TO EAT
Dietitian Lola Briggs (togetherhealth.co.uk) says your diet can help improve the flexibility of your morning workout. Try swapping coffee for an invigorating mug of hot water, with ginger, turmeric, and lemon added.
Ginger can stimulate circulation and reduce inflammation, keeping your joints flexible; turmeric can aid in muscle recovery and lemon can aid in digestion. Also, opt for lots of ‘rainbow foods’ such as blueberries, beets and dark green vegetables (such as spinach and kale). These reduce inflammation and damage in the body, which can cause muscle stiffness and pain. Add to smoothies for a supercharged breakfast. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water.
