An adorable and unlikely friendship between a cat and a dog is captured on camera, with the dog pulling out a toy for the kitten to play with.

German Shepherd Anya loves nothing more than to bring her best friend, kitten Munchie, her favorite toy and entice her to play with her, according to owner Lori Knoble of Cleveland, Ohio.

She rescued Munchie from a dumpster and says she bonded with Anya right away.

Footage shows Anya diligently carrying Munchie’s wand down and into the kitchen before walking around trying to get the kitten’s attention.

German Shepherd Anya loves nothing more than to bring her best friend, kitten Munchie, along with her favorite toy and entice her to play with her at home in Cleveland, Ohio

At first, Munchie just stares at Anya as if she’s trying to resist the temptation.

But after a few seconds, she gives in and ducks for the fuzzy toy at the end of the string before the two spend centuries in a disjointed tug-of-war.

Mrs. Knoble said, “When we first brought Munchie the rescue kitten home she was very scared and just stayed on the basement stairs.

“One day our dog Anya picked up her toy and started playing with Munchie to get her to chase it. Since then they play every day.

“Anya is the one who really helped Munchie not be afraid and helped her adjust to her new life, which is living with us.

“Usually she plays with her every morning, or whenever we leave the toy somewhere.

“Munchie has grown from a tiny, scared kitten living all alone in a dumpster to a member of our family who is loved and cherished.

“It melts us that Anya instinctively knew how to help Munchie not to be afraid. You can’t help but smile when you see them playing together.’

“They play lovingly and also like to tease each other!”
