German police shoot assailant wielding a knife attacking patients and employees in a Jewish hospital

Police shot one of their staff and visitors at a Jewish hospital in Germany.

A 45-year-old man with a knife attacked staff and patients in House D of the Jewish Hospital on Heinz-Galinski-Strasse, north of Berlin, on Friday afternoon.

The man was reportedly a patient being treated for addiction in the hospital’s psychiatric clinic.

Police in the German capital rushed to the scene after several emergency calls.

Onlookers said the officers fired two shots, hitting the knife in his leg.

said one of the patients at the scene BZ: Doctors and nurses came running out of the building.

When the police came, officers in body armor and body armor entered the house. Then two shots were fired.

A police spokesman said he threatened the nurses and patients and did the same to the officers when they arrived.

The spokesman said: “He did not respond to requests to put down the knife.”

Police said his injuries were not life threatening and he was transferred to another ward of the hospital for treatment.

Homicide police from the Sixth Homicide Squad are investigating the attack.
