With a Formula One boss for a father and a Spice Girl mother, little Monty Horner looked set to take pole position at yesterday’s Goodwood Revival motorsport event.

The six-year-old son of Christian Horner and ex Ginger Spice Geri took the wheel of a £7,000 Austin J40 pedal car for the Settrington Cup for kids, billed as the world’s cutest race.

And former racing driver Horner, 50, who has led the Red Bull team since 2005, appeared to draw on his experience to give his son some pre-race advice.

Dressed in a flat cap and a vintage-style white racing suit, which matched Geri’s overalls, the youngster listened as his parents crouched beside the miniature car, before pedalling furiously as the race began.

The 246-yard race is open to children between the ages of four and ten, most of whom are children of those competing in other races during the vintage-inspired weekend.

Unfortunately for Monty, and despite his pedigree, he did not make it onto the winners’ podium this year.

Meanwhile, the Spice Girls are said to be on the lookout for a manager to help them choreograph a reunion and secure a string of “big gigs” – despite one industry source joking that it would be one of the “toughest jobs in music”.

Victoria Beckham has refused to get involved and Geri, 52, shelved reunion plans when Christian was accused of misconduct earlier this year.

He has since been cleared of any wrongdoing and it now seems Geri is eager to join her bandmates.
