Amarius Mims, a 6-foot-8, 340-pound offensive tackle, has surprised NFL Combine scouts with his 40-yard dash speed in just 5.07 seconds.

The 21-year-old Georgia native, who played for the Bulldogs for the past three years, is widely considered a first-round pick and is a top-20 prospect in this year’s NFL Draft, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys. . and the San Francisco 49ers have a stake.

But it appears Mims was injured before his second attempt, as he hopes to be available for Georgia’s pro day workout in front of NFL scouts in Athens on March 13.

“Georgia OT Amarius Mims just told me he’s dealing with a right hamstring injury,” NFL Network’s Stacey Daley tweeted Sunday, adding that he “doesn’t know how bad it is.”

‘He wants to continue testing and competing in the team. But now he has ice on his hamstring.

Amarius Mims impressed NFL scouts while running the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis on Sunday.

The 21-year-old former Georgia offensive tackle weighs 340 pounds. and is 6 feet 8 inches tall

Mims played three seasons at Georgia and is expected to be a top 20 overall pick in this year’s draft.

Mims, an SEC preseason first-team selection at right tackle, played in just seven games last season. He was ruled out of Georgia’s conference opener against South Carolina with an ankle injury, which led to him missing six games and needing surgery.

He returned to the Bulldogs’ starting core against Ole Miss, but re-injured his ankle early in the SEC Championship loss to Alabama, leaving the game in the first half and forcing Georgia to reshuffle its offensive line.

Mims traveled with his teammates to Miami, but was ultimately ruled out for the team’s Orange Bowl victory over No. 5 Florida State.

“To be honest, in college I never had an injury and I was out so long,” Mims said in February. ‘What I learned about myself is that I have a heart. A lot of people might have said, “You know what? I’ll close it.” “I’ve missed six games, that’s the vast majority of the year.” But I’ve learned that I can come back and play as well as I’ve been playing. I have a heart, man. That’s the main.’

In 30 games played over three seasons at Georgia, Mims only made eight starts. He is listed as the No. 5 offensive tackle for the 2024 NFL Draft by ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates. Mims is a two-time CFP national champion (2021, 2022).
