Olivia Samantha Fowler, 27, was last seen wearing a tie-dye shirt, shorts and flip flops as she walked along Pebblebrook Road in Meriwether County on August 13, 2021.
Meriwether Sheriff Chuck Smith said officers “met with and notified immediate family members” that Fowler had been confirmed dead.
“Although the outcome of Olivia Samantha Fowler’s disappearance is not the outcome desired by the family or law enforcement, this investigation remains active and ongoing,” he said.
Smith claimed there was still “a lot of evidence to analyze and process”, but did not reveal how she died or whether it was under suspicious circumstances.
The case went from being a missing person to a death investigation.
Relatives said Fowler disappeared after seeing a man she was dating.
Her aunt Tamara McCoy once said: “Olivia loves family – she loves, loves, loves her family.
“She’s a wonderful mother with the biggest heart.”
The FBI joined the case in May 2022 before investigators received a tip and found his remains in a rural area of the county in December.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Scene Unit helped locate his body, analyze the scene, and perform an autopsy.

Fowler’s aunt has formed a search party called “Olivia’s Army” to try to find her.
Authorities sent a DNA sample to the FBI crime lab, which confirmed it was indeed Fowler.
Sheriff Smith said: “The family asks that they be allowed to properly mourn this recent news and support them during this difficult time.
“The family would like the public to know that Olivia was not only a mother, but also a daughter, sister, grandchild and important member of the Fowler family.”
