George Lucas, 79, looks dapper in a black suit as he is accompanied by his wife Mellody Hobson, 55, in a rare appearance on the red carpet at the GQ Global Creativity Awards in New York.

GQ’s Second Annual Global Creativity Awardwhich celebrates the world’s bravest and most inspiring creatives, became a star-studded event at the WSA building in New York City.

JB Smoove, fresh from the end of his run on Curb Your Enthusiasm, hosted the black-tie awards show.

Legendary filmmaker George Lucas and his wife and businesswoman Mellody Hobson were among the many high-profile people who were present to show their support.

Before entering for the ceremony, the couple headed to the red carpet to take a photo or two together, where they posed with their arms around each other.

Lucas, 79, stepped out wearing a dark blue suit with a white dress shirt and black sneakers, while sporting a well-groomed beard and mustache.

Mellody Hobson, 55, and her husband George Lucas, 79, were among the stars who attended GQ’s second annual Global Creativity Awards, which “celebrates the world’s bravest and most inspiring creatives” at the WSA building in New York City on Thursday.

Hobson, 55, showed off his fashion sense in a black three-piece suit with silver stripes, which he paired with a white shirt with a black, white and silver collar.

She also donned a pair of shiny black pumps and her black locks were cut above her ears, in a pixie style with a subtle part on the right.

In perfect combination with her suit and shirt collar, the former president of DreamWorks Animation carried a silver metallic bag that held her essentials.

Hobson has the distinction of being the first Black woman to chair an S&P company when she took over as president of Starbuck Corp. in December 2020.

She is also President and Co-CEO of Ariel Investments, one of the largest Black-owned mutual fund and money management companies in the US.

As for Lucas, he’s best known for being the mastermind behind two films that became two huge, culture-changing franchises with Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

The couple, who met at a business conference in 2005, began dating the following year and eventually married at Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in June 2013.

The ceremony’s honored headliners were the cover stars of the publication’s April issue: Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton, Euphoria star and activist Hunter Schafer, Eastbound & Down comedian Danny McBride and rock stars turned Oscar-winning songwriters Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Hobson showed off his fashion sense in a three-piece black suit with silver stripes, while Lucas stepped out in a dark blue suit with a white dress shirt.

The couple, who began dating in 2006 after meeting the previous year, have been married since June 2013.

This year’s headliners were the cover stars of the publication’s April issue: Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton and Eastbound & Down comedian Danny McBride.

Euphoria star and activist Hunter Schafer and rock stars turned Oscar-winning songwriters Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross rounded out the 2024 honorees.

This year’s event was called a celebration of “Big Ideas for a Better World.”

“We live in an era where it is multi-disciplinary, multi-platform, multi-tasking creative scholars who are leading the way,” Will Welch, global editorial director of GQ he wrote before the event. ‘This is not the era of narrow specialization. Today, if you want to change the world, spread your wings.’

Smoove (born Jerry Angelo Brooks), 58, arrived with his wife and actress Shahidah Omar, 47, arm in arm and they proceeded to share the red carpet spotlight together.

Some of the high profile people in attendance included Adam DeVine, Erykah Badu, Puma Sabti Curry, Taylor Rooks, Michaela Coel and her boyfriend Spencer Hewett, Myha’la Herrold, Little Simz, Morgan Spector, Hillary Taymour, Mickalene Thomas and Willy Chavarria . , among others.

Along with honorees Hamilton, Schafer, McBride and Reznor and Ross, GQ’s Class of 2024 also recognized the contributions of multimedia artist Lauren Halsey, Marni’s surrealist creative director Francesco Risso, and Afrobeats innovator Asake, according to GQ Magazine.
