Liverpool suffer another injury blow as Alisson is ruled out of Brentford clash after picking up a 'hamstring issue' in training... as Jurgen Klopp side now have EIGHT players sidelined

Jurgen Klopp’s injury crisis worsened on Friday after Alisson was ruled out of their upcoming clash against Brentford after the goalkeeper was injured in training.

There is speculation it could be a hamstring injury, but Mail Sport understands Alisson has remained on Merseyside for further investigations.

The Brazil international did not feature in the Reds’ 3-1 win against Burnley, with Caoimhin Kelleher starting between the sticks and Alisson out with flu.

While he has recovered from that, Kelleher will play in Liverpool’s trip to G-Tech Community Stadium on Saturday.

The 31-year-old had already missed three games earlier this season with a hamstring problem, but that is a worrying development for Klopp, who now has eight players sidelined through injury.

The Reds will also be without Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is still recovering from a knee ligament problem and is likely, according to the Liverpool boss, to miss the midweek clash against Luton and the Cup final. EFL against Chelsea the following Sunday.

Asked if Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai would arrive in time for that match, Klopp said: “Yes, again, it’s a super intense period.”

“People think about the final, which is absolutely fine, but before the final we have Brentford and Luton and I haven’t thought for a second about the final yet. ‘Can’t he play in the final?!’ Yes, it is one game, but first there are two games, which is so bad that they can’t play.

“I think with Dom (Szoboszlai) it will be more or less that moment, we’ll see how exactly it works. And with Trent, another week or two. It’s not great, but it wasn’t to prevent, actually, it from happening.

“I’d say I’m not sure Dom has a chance of making the finals, but maybe, and Trent will probably chase him.”
