Hollywood legend George Clooney was attacked by vile trolls following the release of his latest Nespresso coffee machine adverts earlier this week.
While the campaign, which also starred Eva Longoria, received overwhelming support from her fans, several social media users claimed to have confused the two-time Oscar winner, 63, with Steve Martin, Omar Shariff or Arthur Daley.
“Embarrassing moment for everyone involved,” one sarcastic hater commented on Nespresso’s post.
Others, however, insisted they “loved everything” about the ad and praised Clooney’s “legendary mustache performance.”
‘I just saw this commercial. I love your commercials. “George is GREAT in them,” another agreed.
In his star-studded new ad, which pays homage to Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, Clooney played a Hercule Poirot-style detective.
Hollywood legend George Clooney was attacked by vile trolls following the release of his latest Nespresso coffee machine adverts earlier this week.
He is tasked with tracking down a group of Nespresso capsule thieves, which leads him to investigate Longoria, Camille Cottin, and Kim Go Eun.
While talking about doing the whodunnit mystery campaign, Clooney praised that “filming with Nespresso is always a good time.”
“This particular campaign was incredibly fun thanks to the script and casting. “This was the first time I worked with my old friend Eva, who formed the perfect culinary duo with Kim trying to trick me,” he said in a statement.
He continued, “They both brought such vibrant energy to the set and worked together beautifully. It was also wonderful to meet Camille again. She always brings a touch of sophistication, which was perfect for this role.”
Meanwhile, Longoria gushed that “Nespresso campaigns are always iconic because of the casting.”
‘I am delighted to now be part of the family. Filming the campaign was a very fun experience because of how light and comedic the script was, as well as the good relationship we all had working together,” he gushed. “I’ve known George for a long time, but this was the first time “We were working on a project together and it was a great pleasure to be on set with him, Kim and Camille.”
In addition to serving as a global ambassador for Nespresso and a member of its Sustainability Advisory Board, Clooney has been the face of the company since 2006.
Outside of his role at Nespresso and his demanding schedule as one of the entertainment industry’s biggest players, he and his wife Amal Clooney celebrated 10 years of marriage in September.

While the campaign, which also featured Eva Longoria, had overwhelming support from her fans, several social media users claimed to have confused the two-time Oscar winner, 63, with Steve Martin, Omar Shariff or Arthur Daley.

In his star-studded new ad, which pays tribute to Agatha Christie’s murder on the Orient Express, Clooney played a Hercule Poirot-style detective.
In 2014, the couple exchanged vows at the Venetian palace Ca’ Farsetti.
He admitted that his life changed irreversibly for the better from the moment he met Amal during an interview with CBS Sunday morning in 2020.
“There’s no doubt that having Amal in my life changed everything for me,” he said. “It was the first time that everything she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me.”
Referring to their twins, whom they welcomed in 2017, she added: “And then we had these two idiots.” “It’s very rewarding and something that I wasn’t at all… didn’t see coming.”
In contrast to the sentiment he previously shared with GQ magazine over the years, the actor couldn’t stop praising married life during another 2020 interview.

“Embarrassing moment for everyone involved,” one sarcastic hater commented on Nespresso’s post.

Others, however, insisted they “loved everything” about the ad and praised Clooney’s “legendary mustache performance.”

“I thought it was Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau,” one joked.

Another said he was confused with English actor Arthur Daley, who died in August 2015.

Another compared Clooney to Omar Sharif

‘I just saw this commercial. I love your commercials. “George is GREAT in them,” another agreed.

“I watched this over and over again for George Clooney, he is the definition of unforgettable,” one fan praised. ‘Wait… was it because of the coffee? I guess I’ll need a cuppa to keep up!’

During the spot, he is tasked with tracking down a group of Nespresso capsule thieves, which leads him to investigate Longoria, Camille Cottin, and Kim Go Eun.

While talking about doing the whodunnit mystery campaign, Clooney praised that “filming with Nespresso is always a good time.”
He said: “I thought, ‘I’ll never get married.’ I’m not going to have children.” I go to work, I have great friends, my life is full, I’m doing well.
And I didn’t know how dissatisfied I was until I met Amal. And then everything changed. And I said, “Oh, actually, this has been a huge empty space.”
He explained that marriage changed him “because I had never been in the position where another person’s life was infinitely more important to me than my own.” Know? And then add two more individuals, which are small and must be fed.’
Speaking to People in 2020, the Batman and Robin star revealed that he has yet to have an argument with his wife.

In addition to his role as a global Nespresso ambassador and busy actor, Clooney and his wife Amal recently celebrated 10 years of marriage (pictured September 2024).
He gushed: ‘I feel very lucky in many ways to have met her. We have never had an argument. You know, the whole world has been affected by the coronavirus and many friendships have been tested. It’s been really easy for us.”
The lovestruck star noted that their shared passion for equality, philanthropy and humanitarian causes (the couple works together at the human rights organization Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ)) has only served to strengthen their relationship.
“She is successful in many different ways and stands up for what she believes in,” he said of his wife. ‘We didn’t fall in love because of our work, but it ended up being something unusual that (we shared)… We’re very lucky and we know it.’
