Ryan Paevey, who rose to fame as the handsome Nathan West on General Hospital, finally revealed why he retired from acting.
The 39-year-old announced in April that he was stepping away from Hollywood, but did not explain his reasons, sparking a storm of speculation.

Ryan, who in recent years has been known for Hallmark movies, revealed in April that he “may take a break from filming in 2024, unless the project is with friends.”

The speculation accelerated, to the point that this week Ryan found himself issuing a statement clarifying his position.
He expressed frustration with “speculation from third parties who have taken my words and expanded them to meet their narrative, or have flatly misrepresented my words or misinterpreted their meaning.”
Noting that “social media makes it very easy to twist words,” he shared that he will occasionally receive messages from his team “panicking” about a rumor.
Ryan revealed that he “felt” he should stop acting “for a while” and over the “last few weeks” determined the move was “absolutely necessary.”
“The industry hasn’t felt like the right place for me for quite some time and my mental health has been affected. It’s taken me to a bit of a dark place, it’s turned me into a version of myself that I don’t like very much. “I have publicly expressed some of my anger and frustration, and for that I apologize,” she said.
“I’ve had many years of smooth sailing and I’m very lucky to say that, but the waters have been much rougher over the last year,” he added.
“My bank accounts were hacked, my money was embezzled, my investments were stolen… things that, although difficult, can be recovered.”
However, when he found out about his mother’s cancer, he “left Los Angeles to be closer to her” and “dedicate more time, energy and resources closer to home.”
