She told her BBC Sounds podcast listeners, ‘Since I was 40, I have become so much more aware of my health and I regret that I may not take my health as seriously as I should have.

‘In our twenties and thirties we don’t think about it, and I’m just trying to be so fit and healthy right now. I am on a massive health drive. ‘

Gemma takes to social media daily to share her workouts with her followers and on Thursday said her body is “ literally changing by the day. ”

On Friday, she shared a glimpse of her little lunch, which consisted of salmon and five slices of cucumber.

Gemma said, ‘So guys, this is my lunch today. I can get some Philadelphia with this and spinach that I can’t wait for. ‘

The reality star then waved the camera to another salmon fillet and a bunch of tomatoes and said, ‘And I’m already preparing my lunch for tomorrow, I’m on the scale, I have to weigh it all up on the scale and I get it in a container. ‘

Gemma showed off a snack of almonds and a Baby Bell mid-morning, which left some fans worried she wasn’t eating enough.

As she focuses on exercise and a healthier diet in an effort to slim down, Gemma has admitted she regrets promoting controversial weight loss injections while trying to slim down and thinks the word should be ‘diet’ prohibited.

The TV personality joined media figures, including former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona, by endorsing the ‘quick fix’ for weight loss SkinnyJabs after admitting she’d like to lose six stone by using the £ 250 injections.

Her paid promotional work has since been dismissed as ‘irresponsible’ because the product itself has potential ‘life-influencing’ side effects, and Gemma says she now regrets getting involved.

In her BBC Sounds podcast, she said, ‘I have said I am not promoting diet injections or anything like that.

“ I kind of regret it, but I feel like sometimes you are in such a desperate place and want to lose weight, but actually I love this diet promotion right now. ”

She added, ‘Wish we could get rid of that word diet, people think oh my god it’s a bad thing. It’s really just what works for you. ‘

The injections have caused concern because they contain the drug liraglutide, which puts users at risk of developing cancer, low blood pressure, rashes, and swelling of the lips, face, and tongue.

Other negative side effects include dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, constipation and difficulty breathing.

It is generally approved for two types of patients: those with a BMI over 27 and a weight-related health problem, such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure, and obese patients with a BMI over 30 and no underlying conditions.

Liraglutide is not routinely prescribed by the NHS for weight loss. According to studies, users lose about eight percent of their body weight after one year of treatment. But after two years, there is a lack of evidence showing that patients keep the weight off.

In 2020, Skinny Jab founder Caroline Balazs said, “The health and safety of every patient is at the core of our ethos.”

She added that her senior nurses ‘check in’ with clients every week to make sure they are injecting correctly, keeping an eye out for side effects, and assessing their need for a higher dose.

“We invest thousands in a comprehensive aftercare and support service – providing nutrition and nutrition advice every step of the way,” she said.
