Fear for residents when a truck hits a house in a steep street
- The incident took place on Friday morning in Geelong, Victoria
A family was lucky enough to escape injury when a large flatbed truck drove into their home.
The incident occurred just after 8am Friday morning on North Valley Rd in Highton, a western suburb of Geelong in Victoria.
Footage from Channel Seven’s news helicopter appears to show skid marks left by the unladen flatbed trailer before it drove into the house.
Ambulance Victoria was called to the scene, but neither the occupants of the house nor the truck driver were injured.
A couple in their 40s and a teenager were in the house when the accident happened, but were unharmed.

A 61-year-old man who was not in the truck when it crashed into the house has been approached by the police.
Initial theories say the truck was parked before its brakes failed and rolled down a hill, damaging a hatchback as it crashed into the residence.
A structural engineer also came to the scene to assess the safety of the house after the accident.
Neighbour Sherry Powell told the Geelong Advertiser that her daughter looked out the window and saw the truck rolling down the hill.
“I could hear the back of the truck dragging down the road,” she said.
More to come.
