Commuter train collides with lorry in Victoria: Man fights for his life and is airlifted to hospital with emergency services on the scene

A man is fighting for his life after a truck and train collide in the early morning.
Emergency services rushed to South Geelong just after 6.30am after reports that the Melbourne-bound V/Line had hit a truck near Barwon Terrace.
“The lorry driver sustained serious injuries and is expected to be airlifted to hospital,” a Victorian Police spokeswoman said.
The train driver was not injured and it is understood that the train was not carrying passengers at the time.
The collision disrupted traffic in the morning, with the Baron Terrace crossing closed, and passengers gathered on both sides.
A Department for Transport spokeswoman told Geelong Advertiser coaches that buses will replace trains between South Geelong and Waurn Ponds stations because of the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the accident have not been determined and the police investigation is still ongoing.
