California Gov. Gavin Newsom has responded to tech billionaire Elon Musk after he said he would move the headquarters of SpaceX and President X to Texas following Newsom's approval of new gender laws.

California Governor Gavin Newsom responded to Elon Musk in a four-word tweet after the billionaire announced he would move SpaceX and SpaceX headquarters to Texas due to Newsom’s new gender identity laws.

“You took a knee,” Newsom wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, alongside a screenshot of a 2022 tweet from Donald Trump criticizing Musk.

Earlier on Tuesday, the 52-year-old billionaire announced the landmark move, saying Newsom’s signing of a law banning California school districts from notifying parents if their child is transgender was “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

The new law reversed decisions by more conservative school districts that required teachers to notify parents if a student changed his or her name or pronouns, or requested to use facilities or participate in programs that did not match his or her official gender.

“Because of this law and many others that preceded it, targeting both families and businesses, SpaceX will now be moving its headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas,” he wrote on X.

“I made it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and businesses to leave California to protect their children.”

Musk later added that the social media site will also be moving its headquarters from San Francisco to Austin, saying he was “fed up with dodging gangs of violent drug addicts just to get in and out of the building.”

Newsom’s post included Trump’s tweet about the tech billionaire, where the former president suggested he was the reason for Musk’s success.

“When Elon Musk came to the White House to ask me for help with all of his numerous subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t last long enough, or self-driving cars that crash, or rockets that go nowhere, without whose subsidies nothing would be worth anything, and told me he was a big Trump fan and a Republican, I could have said, ‘Get on your knees and beg,’ and I would have done it,” Trump wrote in 2022.

Musk had also suggested on Tuesday that “many will follow suit” and noted that “Silicon Valley has changed.”

The billionaire has already moved Tesla’s headquarters from Palo Alto, California, to Austin after Alameda County officials did not allow him to reopen the plant due to coronavirus restrictions, despite Newsom announcing that manufacturers could restart operations.

He made good on his promise about a year later, praising Texas’ lack of income tax and the area’s abundance of housing, though he announced he would still keep Tesla’s “engineering headquarters” in California.

Musk himself had even moved to the Lone Star State in 2020 after living in California for two decades and was already in the process of moving SpaceX to Texas as he spoke out against California’s liberal policies.

The tech billionaire’s plans to move the headquarters of X and SpaceX from California to Texas have raised concerns that hundreds, if not thousands, of people could lose their jobs. ABC7 News reported.

Musk has been vocal against the use of preferred pronouns, often mocking the practice on social media and dismissing it as part of a “woke” agenda that is dangerous to society.

Musk is the estranged father of a transgender daughter, and blames her upbringing at a private school in California for turning her politically far-left and against him.

But California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been on the opposite side, often championing these progressive ideals, even as he, too, has moved his family out of one of the state’s largest cities to an exclusive neighborhood.

This comes after the billionaire CEO officially endorsed Trump as his choice for president following Saturday’s shooting in which he called the Republican former president “tough.”

Musk, who is the world’s richest person, posted the endorsement with a video of Trump with blood on his face and shaking his fist after being shot several times at his presidential rally.

The posts cemented Musk’s shift toward right-wing politics and give Trump a high-profile endorsement in his quest to return to the White House in the Nov. 5 election.

“I fully support President Trump and look forward to his speedy recovery,” Musk posted on his social media platform X.
