Asked about Harris’ selection as a candidate, the California governor joked that he was “told to say” that it was “a very inclusive process.”

Biden’s decision pushed Harris to the top of the ticket, and over the past month, her campaign has seen a surge in fundraising and polling.
However, many critics say the Democratic Party’s maneuvers thwarted the will of the people, as Harris never won a vote or a primary.

Last month, President Biden made the surprise announcement that he would not seek reelection and subsequently endorsed Harris.
While Harris’ nomination remains controversial, Gov. Newsom seemed amused during his appearance on Pod Save America, which was released Friday.
When asked by the podcast hosts about “the change,” Newsom laughed.
“We went through a very open process, a very inclusive process,” he seemed to joke.
“It was from below. I don’t know if you knew that. That’s what I’ve been told to say,” he added.
Later in the clip, Newsom chuckled that Democrats had held a 30-minute convention between the time Biden tweeted he was dropping out of the race and the time he tweeted he had endorsed Harris.
“It’s been incredible,” Newsom said, before changing his mind and changing his tone.
“The amazing thing is how united we all are,” he said solemnly.
While Harris’ nomination remains controversial, Gov. Newsom seemed amused during his appearance on Pod Save America, which was released Friday.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald posted the clip to his X.com account and offered a brutal look at Newsom’s laughable behavior.
“The Democratic Party sits back and laughs at how undemocratic, secretive and voteless their process was in choosing and then imposing the new Democratic presidential candidate on the country,” Greenwald said.
In the comments section, many viewers expressed outrage at Newsom’s apparent lackadaisical attitude toward the nomination process.
Prominent figures within the Democratic Party such as Nancy Pelosi have claimed that the nomination was not rigged in Harris’s favor.
“I don’t even have words to express how disgusted I am,” wrote one user.
“This is unbelievable. They’re joking about it,” another person commented.
“It was surreal to see a candidate accept the nomination without even winning a primary,” another observed.
In March, Biden clinched the party’s nomination with little competition. After the president’s dismal performance in the June debate, many Democrats called on Biden to step aside.
At the time, people speculated that Newsom could replace Biden on the presidential ticket.
In late November, the California governor raised eyebrows when he debated Ron DeSantis, who was seeking the Republican nomination for president.

In his tweet, he wrote:
‘Tough. Fearless. Tenacious. With our democracy at stake and our future at stake, there is no one better than the Vice President of the United States to carry the case against Donald Trump’s dark vision and guide our country in a healthier direction.’
On Thursday night, Harris formally accepted the Democratic presidential nomination.
