Gov. Chris Sununu says almost all 50 governors get along… except “moron” Gavin Newsom, who “nobody cares about,” and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a “complete idiot.”

The Republican governor of New Hampshire mocked his Democratic colleagues during a fireside chat at the Reagan Institute Education Summit in Washington, DC.

“Look, almost all the governors get along,” he said. “In my eight years, there’s actually been maybe only two, maybe a third, but two governors that nobody really likes and nobody particularly cares about.”

When asked which governors disagree with the rest, he replied: ‘Andrew Cuomo… complete idiot, no one likes him,’ prompting laughter.

And I have to be honest. Nobody cares about Gavin (Newsom). “Gavin is just an idiot, excuse me,” he continued.

‘He just is. He is really disappointing. We all got along for a while, but even Democrats — they won’t tell you this out loud — but behind closed doors they say, ‘Oh God, look who’s coming.’

“Everyone’s rolling their eyes because… I’m sure that’s going to hit social media, who cares,” he joked.

He went on to say that he gets along well with other Democrats despite their very different policies, including New Jersey’s Phil Murphy and Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek.

Sununu spoke about the importance of education and how he is prioritizing civic education in particular.

Additionally, it is essential to teach children the “pros and cons” of where they get their information and not always believe the first thing they read.

Previously, at the Reagan Institute Education Summit, Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia discussed how he prioritizes education initiatives as a leader.

He told the audience that he wakes up every morning with a prayer about how to best serve the residents of the Commonwealth.

Education is “at the top of the list” in order to give people “confidence” to achieve an “expectation of excellence,” he explained.

The crowd erupted in applause as the governor spoke about the importance of providing children with an education in the key foundation of the United States, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

He said Commonwealth students are tested on their knowledge of those critical fundamentals, among other important civic topics.

And Gov. Kim Reynolds, R-Iowa, who joined virtually due to recent tornadoes in the state, expressed the importance of protecting access to school choice.

“I heard it over and over again from parents,” he said. “I want to participate in choosing the best facilities for my children.”

He said his “universal school choice plan” has been in place for three years.

Parents have the option to choose between public and private schools, “wherever it seems best for their children to receive an education.”
