Gavin and Stacey star James Corden posed with fans on Tuesday while filming the latest episode of the sitcom.
As James, 46, met fans outside an ice cream parlour, his co-star Ruth Jones, 57, posed with a fish and chip shop worker on Barry Island, where the show is filmed.
On Monday, James confirmed work had begun by sharing a photo of his character Smithy’s iconic blue Volvo with the caption: “Day 1. Here we go.”
The following day, Joanna, who plays Stacey Shipman, and Ruth, who plays Nessa Jenkins, shared a laugh on their Barry Island set.
But surprisingly, not with them was Mathew Horne, who plays Stacey’s husband, Gavin Shipman.

On Monday, James confirmed filming had begun by sharing a photo of his character Smithy’s iconic blue Volvo with the caption “Day 1. Here we go x.”
On Tuesday, she shared a photo of Joanna and Ruth’s backs and wrote: ‘Day 2. One last time on the island x’.
Joanna also posted a photo of her trailer with the caption: “Omg we’re just getting started! I’m so excited!”
She captioned the photo: ‘Day One!!!!’ and tagged BBC and BBC iPlayer, as well as using the hashtags Gavin and Stacey.
Excited fans, including famous names, flooded the actors’ comments sections.
They wrote: ‘I can’t wait to see it! Have fun filming!’; ‘I can’t wait’;
“We’re so happy to have you back in Barry. If you need Barry Island gin, rum or vodka while you’re here, just let us know.”
‘Oh my god I’m so excited I’m having a great time I can’t wait for this moment!’;
“If this ends on a cliffhanger, I’ll never recover.” “I’m not going to lie to you, James. I’m excited.”
Corden was joined by Laura Davenport (left) as he chatted with locals on Barry Island.
The actor and writer appeared to be in high spirits as he posed for photos in the Welsh city.
On Tuesday, James shared a photo of the backs of Joanna Page and Ruth Jones, with the caption: ‘Day 2. One last time on the island.’
Joanna also posted a photo of her trailer with the caption: “Omg we’re just getting started! I’m so excited!”
Civilians and celebrities alike flooded James and Joanna’s comment sections with excitement and wishes for Gavin and Stacey’s final episode.
“As long as it’s wrapped up in a perfect 3- or 4-hour episode, everyone will be happy and excited about it.”
“I know Essex House is in Barry, but I hope it’s Christmas at Pam and Mick’s.”
Sports presenter Jake Humphrey wrote: ‘Wish it was Christmas tomorrow!’ while Denise van Outen left emojis.
Loose Women panellists Andrea McClean and Ruth Langford wrote ‘Woop woop!’ and ‘YEEEEEEEEEEEE!’ respectively.
In the scene filmed on Tuesday, it was revealed that Nessa had started another job: transporting passengers on Barry Island in a rickshaw.
Nessa’s varied career includes work as a roadie for a major brand, a producer for the BBC and, more similarly to her current role, a lorry driver.
He has reportedly driven for Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Who and agricultural company Eddie Stobart Ltd.
With his notes in hand, James appeared at one point to give Ruth some advice on how he wanted the scene to play out.
Before filming, Ruth had lunch at Mr Villa’s fish and chip shop and posed for a photo with a fan working behind the counter.
Meanwhile, James sent Gavin and Stacey Fans went wild with excitement when she shared a snap from the first day of filming for the comedy’s long-awaited return.
On Tuesday, James, Joanna, who plays the eponymous Stacey Shipman, and Ruth Jones, who plays Nessa Jenkins, shared a laugh on their set in Barry Island, Wales, for the second day of filming.
James was also directing and was seen walking around with a notebook and giving feedback to the women.
The actor and co-creator of the beloved sitcom took to his Instagram to post a behind-the-scenes photo from the set, while confirming that filming was underway.
This comes after fellow star Rob Brydon hinted that filming was taking place for the show, as he shared a selfie with co-star Ruth Jones on Saturday.
The 59-year-old actor, who plays fan favourite Uncle Bryn, smiled alongside Nessa Jenkins’ star Ruth and joked: “Something’s going on… #gavinandstacey.”
Gavin & Stacey co-creator James and Ruth have confirmed the show will return in May, with filming taking place on Barry Island, after last airing a Christmas special in 2019.
Fans will be able to find out what happened during the five-year break on Christmas Day this year, after the previous episode became the most-watched non-sporting event in a decade.
In the episode’s climax, Nessa got down on one knee to propose to Smithy, but viewers never got to hear his response.
Mathew’s absence on Tuesday will remind fans of his rumored feud with James.
The pair were best friends during and after Gavin And Stacey, but failed to make a name for themselves as a duo, despite numerous attempts.
The Fantastic Four were last seen in the 2019 Christmas special, in which Nessa proposed to Smithy and the episode ended before he responded. It was the most-watched non-sporting event in a decade.
