The second season finale of Tokyo Vice arrives today and fans of the show are eagerly awaiting news on whether or not there will be a third season.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Last month, Elgort, who plays American journalist Jake Adelstein in the show about the Yakuza gang, spoke about how episode eight of the current season returns to the pilot.

“In episode eight we finally get to the first scene of Michael Mann’s pilot where Jake and Katagiri go and meet the yakuza,” he said.

“We finally got back there, and it was amazing for me to be there now, because it was a few years later and I speak Japanese in the scene and I’m much better now,” he said.

The Baby Driver actor, who debuts on Netflix this month, also revealed how he finally mastered his Japanese lines for the pilot episode and how much better he is now at the language.

“I was preparing for many months (in the first season) speaking Japanese, so I was definitely not as good as when I filmed the second time, nor as good as I am now.

“But at that time I still knew what I was saying,” he told the outlet and then spoke several lines in fluent Japanese.

He continued: ‘I had also practiced it with a sensei and he helped me with pronunciation and inflection; So I probably said that phrase a million times before I did it the first time.

“And then in the second season, when I spoke Japanese, I didn’t need to do things a million times. I could start memorizing a few days before and be able to do it,” he said.

‘Sometimes when you’ve just learned it, it can feel more natural. “I was a little nervous about doing a scene in Japanese that first time, and that nervousness manifested itself in that pilot,” he explained.

‘And the second time, I now had all the context of everything leading up to that scene, which I didn’t have in the pilot. He more or less knew the story but had not yet experienced those events.

“I’m nervous, but also very angry, because these people are threatening my family,” he said.
