BUCHAREST – An explosion killed four people and injured five early Thursday near a gas pipeline at a highway construction site in eastern Romania’s Vrancea province, a government emergency unit said.
The fire has now been extinguished and the injured have been taken to hospital. Investigators are investigating the causes of the explosion.
Last month, dozens of people were injured after explosions at a liquid petroleum filling station in the Romanian town of Crevedia near the capital Bucharest, one of several fires that regularly break out in Romania.
