The area surrounding a Tesla factory in Austin, Texas, has been evacuated amid concerns about a possible gas leak.
The Austin Fire Department responded to calls of a possible crack in a pipe around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Crews had received reports of a “hazardous materials incident” on Tesla Road, where the company’s headquarters are located.

“The immediate area is being evacuated as a general precaution,” the department said in a statement.
‘Isolation zone created to guarantee the safety of all those working in the surrounding area.’
Atmos Energy is working to completely close the valves. A construction crew working nearby had damaged a gas pipeline.
Technicians are already on site to repair the damage to the pipeline.
Travelers have been warned to expect heavy traffic in and around the area.
Tesla Gigafactory manufactures Tesla cars and is the “main factory” for the Cybertruck.
It is also the base of Tesla’s headquarters and the factory reportedly employs around 20,000 people.
