Gary Neville jokes that Erling Haaland looked like he has ‘never played football before’ after striker’s big miss in stalemate with Arsenal

Manchester City drew against Arsenal on Sunday but could have snatched all three points had Erling Haaland squandered his big chance in the closing stages of the game.

It was a game of few openings with Haaland well managed by William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

However, the striker found himself with a clear view of goal in the 83rd minute, but he made a complete mistake.

He took a corner from the right and reached Haaland, who was waiting at the far post.

However, the striker somehow failed to make contact with the ball, leaving Gary Neville almost speechless.

The Sky commentator took a few moments to get his words out before saying that it looked like Haaland had “never played football before”.

The goalless draw ended City’s scoring streak in their last 57 home games.

It was also the third time Haaland faced Arsenal this season and failed to find the target.

Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Brighton earlier in the day means they are now two points ahead of second-place Arsenal, with City a further point back in third place.
