Gareth Southgate insisted that the full defender be left out for the World Cup qualifiers due to form
Sportsmail has previously reported that starlet Alexander-Arnold was shocked and angry at being dropped out of the game against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

Klopp took a cunning swipe at Southgate’s failure to select one of his key players – and believes, due to his club performance, his dip ‘can’t’ be why he was left out.
“I respect Gareth making his own decisions, but I didn’t understand because Trent Alexander-Arnold has been the pinnacle of world football in the last two seasons – let me say the season before and the season before that,” Klopp said.
That’s the truth and at an incredibly young age.
‘I have no problem if my players are criticized. They can get it from me, they can get it from other people. He was the star in world football.

Klopp supported Alexander-Arnold, brushing aside Southgate’s claims that he had missed form
He started the season early at Covid, which is not good. It took him a while to start the season, but from then on he was one of our most consistent players. So that cannot be the reason. ‘
Southgate has already started holding talks with players to warn them that they are likely to miss his final roster for the euro.
The likes of Alexander-Arnold, Michael Keane and Harry Winks may all be braced for disappointment after being frozen late last month.
Sportsmail understands that the Three Lions coach has already spoken to both Alexander-Arnold and Everton center-back Keane.
