Gary Ablett Jr’s wife Jordan has shared a heartbreaking message about their son Levi.
On Instagram, the AFL WAG posted a photo of the smiling boy with a caption detailing how she felt about Levi not joining kids his age starting prep school.
“Preparing to transition… is a very exciting time for them and is definitely a milestone that should be celebrated! But to be honest, even though I’m really happy for them…my heart is heavy,” she wrote.
Jordan, whose son suffers from a degenerative disease, writes that she oscillates between negative and positive states of mind.
“Even though our little man won’t have a ‘first day of school’ moment or any of the other school days that follow…it doesn’t matter!

On Instagram, the AFL WAG posted a photo of the smiling boy with a caption detailing how she felt about Levi not joining kids his age starting prep school. Pictured: Levi, son of Jordan and Gary Ablett Jr.
“I must let go of the things that were never promised to me but only assumed by me. Letting go of what I thought I was and accepting what is meant to be,” Jordan continued.
She then explained that her post was not meant to encourage a “pity party,” but to convince her followers that there can be “a purpose to our pain” and that resisting “any kind of storm in our lives” is a way to offer support and advice to others.
The mother of two ended her post by explaining why she disabled comments.

“I turned off my comments because I just wanted this post to be an encouragement to anyone who might need a change of perspective today.”
Little Levi suffers from a mysterious degenerative disease that seriously affects his respiratory system and he has never spoken a word.
Jordan recently gave an update on the health of the couple’s four-year-old son as he battles a degenerative disease.

In an interview with The Significant Others podcast in March, Jordan opened up about the family’s heartbreak after Levi was diagnosed with a degenerative disease.
Jordan, who did not reveal the illness Levi was diagnosed with, revealed in April last year that it was unlikely he would ever learn to speak.
“It’s really difficult from a practical point of view, but also very difficult to be his mother and not be able to hear his voice or know what he needs,” she told the Herald Sun in a moving interview.
“When he gets upset, I have to guess what the problem is,” Jordan, who has been married to AFL legend Gary since 2016, continued.
“It’s also hard because I would just like to hear his thoughts, have a conversation with my boy and for us to know that he understands how much we love him.”
Gary and his wife of eight years also share daughter Grace, whom they welcomed in 2021.
Gary Jr. was an all-time great for AFL teams Geelong and the Gold Coast from 2002 to 2020.

Jordan said it took a long time before Levi was diagnosed with an unspecified illness, and detailed the devastation she and Gary felt after learning the illness was “fatal.”
Gary, 38, and Jordan, his wife of eight years, announced in January that they were expecting their third child.
On Levi’s birthday, the mom shared a photo of her eldest happily holding an image of his ultrasound.
“The birthday boy wants to share the gift we as a family have been given,” she wrote.
“Happy birthday my little man, I’m grateful for every day I get to spend with you.”

“Life expectancy is very short, which is why I constantly tell people when they ask me about Levi that we literally take it day by day because we have no idea what the future holds,” Jordan said.
