Garth Brooks has denied rape allegations against him, calling them a “hush money” shakedown.
The country star, 62, was accused of sexual assault and battery in a complaint filed Thursday in California state court by a makeup artist who worked for his wife Trisha Yearwood.
Hours later, Brooks responded to the accusations. “For the past two months, I have been harassed endlessly with threats, lies, and tragic stories about what my future would be if I didn’t write a check for many millions of dollars,” he said in a statement to cnn.
‘Hush money, no matter how much or little, is still hush money. “In my opinion, that means that I am admitting behavior that I am incapable of: ugly acts that no human being should do to another,” he added.
‘We filed a lawsuit against this person almost a month ago to report extortion and defamation. We present it anonymously for the sake of the families on both sides.

Brooks said the situation “was like a loaded gun was pointed in my face,” in another statement to Deadline.
He added: “I want to play music tonight.” I want to continue our good works in the future. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are in doubt now. I trust the system, I am not afraid of the truth and I am not the man they have painted me as.
The plaintiff, who filed the lawsuit anonymously as ‘Jane Roe,’ alleges that the country icon took her with him to Los Angeles for a Grammy event honoring R&B singer Sam Moore in May 2019.
In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that the Friends in Low Places singer booked only one hotel suite for them both, and when she requested separate accommodations, he did not provide it.
She accuses him of then stalking her naked at the door, dragging her to another room, hanging her upside down by her ankles and raping her, in court documents obtained by Dailymail.com.
Before the makeup artist filed her lawsuit, Brooks was aware of her allegations and filed an anonymous lawsuit to fight back, using the name ‘John Doe,’ CNN reported.
‘Jane Roe’ was originally hired to do Yearwood’s hair and makeup in 1999, and Brooks eventually recruited her to do it for him in 2017, she claims.
In her new lawsuit, the makeup artist alleges that Brooks sent her sexually explicit text messages, told her about his sexual fantasies and talked about sex with her.

She also accuses him of exposing his buttocks and genitals to her on more than one occasion and of repeatedly changing his clothes in front of her.
According to the makeup artist’s lawsuit, Brooks allegedly made advances to her at her home in 2019, before the trip to Los Angeles, when she says the rape occurred.
She claims she was at Brooks’ house, waiting for him to find her so she could put on her makeup, when he emerged naked and erect from the shower.
She alleges that he then ‘grabbed her hands and forced’ them to have an erection, telling her that he harbored fantasies that she would perform fellatio on him while wearing his glasses until he finally climaxed on her face.
