England manager Gareth Southgate has identified Bayern Munich prodigy Jamal Musiala as the next teenager to break into his squad.
Sportsmail understands that during the recent international break at St George’s Park, Southgate had talks with the 17-year-old, who is currently playing for England under 21.
The boss of the national team indicated how highly he rates the attacking midfielder during the informal conversation – a clear indication that the youngster is on the head coach’s radar on the way to 2021.

It remains to be seen whether Musiala has a chance of making a late run-up to the Euros squad, but the product of Chelsea’s academy is on track to be part of England’s post-European Championship plans.
Within the football association, however, fears arise that Musiala could be persuaded to change his international allegiance to Germany.
Musiala was born in Stuttgart and lived in Germany until he was seven before moving to South London. The FA have a clear path to their senior team for Musiala, but Southgate has said he is wary of following young players on his squad quickly, only to tie them to England.
