- The Welshman stood with arms crossed while his manager was thrown into the air
Gareth Bale’s tense relationship with Real Madrid and the club’s fans reached new lows on Thursday evening as the Welshman chopped a sulky figure during their title celebrations.
The 31-year-old was yet another unused replacement for the 2-1 win over Villarreal, a match that acted as a LaLiga procession after Osasuna’s previous defeat to Barcelona.
The newly crowned champions were awarded the trophy after the game at the Estadio Alfredi Di Stefano, but Bale didn’t seem in the mood to embrace the moment.
Gareth Bale seemed to be mocking Real Madrid’s title celebrations that took place on Thursday
A video on the club’s Twitter page showed the entire squad surrounding the trophy, with Bale on the back, on the left side of the silverware.
He grimaced and seemed to mock his teammates with half-hearted attempts to celebrate their waving arms.
Bale’s contempt for the situation was also evident when the player attempted to pay tribute to Zinedine Zidane’s role in their triumph.
