A woman had her arm bitten off in a horrific dog attack in Queensland.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was attacked at a house on Lonerganne Street in Garbutt, in Townsville, in the state’s southeast, shortly after 7am on Friday.

Paramedics and police discovered the woman with an amputated arm and her injuries were described as life-threatening.

It is understood officers had to shoot the dog to save her.

The woman’s arm will be sent to the hospital where she will undergo surgery to reattach it.

A neighbor, who described the dog as a “pit bull mix,” said it attacked its owner after one of her neighbors came to the house.

“The dog got angry at the neighbor and she reached out to bring him back, that’s when he grabbed her arm,” she told the newspaper. Courier mail.

“His arm is outside the elbow.”

Resident Corey Geesu said he was attacked by the same dog two weeks ago and had to spend several nights in the hospital as a result.
